Replacing windows and doors in an existing home

Measuring existing openings, deciding where to change the layout and choosing glazing room by room.

Replacing windows and doors is one of the most noticeable upgrades you can make to an older home. Done well, it improves light, ventilation and weather resistance without major structural work.

Measure the openings you have

Most replacements are made to fit existing structural openings. We take site measurements so new frames are sized to the opening, with allowances for sills, finishes and any out-of-square walls.

Decide where to change the layout

Some openings are worth enlarging. Turning a window into sliding or bi-fold doors can connect a living room to a terrace. These changes need a structural check, so it helps to decide early.

Choose glazing for each room

  • 01Insulated glass for rooms with air conditioning
  • 02Laminated glass where security or noise matters
  • 03Awning or casement windows where you want ventilation in the rain

Book a site visit and we'll measure, recommend options for each opening and price the full schedule.
